Australia young gun Lachlan Evennett has started his 2026 year in the best possible way with victory in the GT4 Class, on Day 3 of Round 2 of the Summerset GTNZ Championship, as part of the NextGen NZ Championship, at the TERETONGA PARK Circuit in New Zealand.
Solid rain all weekend at the world’s most southerly located circuit made conditions tough for all drivers.
Piloting the new Camm Quarries and Concrete Mike Carney Toyota BEL Energy Supra GT4 EVO2, Evennett claimed 2 wins for the weekend, with first place in his only race - Race 2 on Sunday morning - and then combining with Glen Chappell to take a strong win in the 50 minute, safety car and rain interrupted, endurance Race 3 on Sunday.
Previously Evennett had qualified the new Supra on pole on Saturday.
The event follows Evennett’s announcement recently that he will drive in the European GT season in 2026, again behind the wheel of the Toyota Supra GT4 EVO2.
The next round of the Summerset GTNZ Championship heads to the world famous and stunning Highlands Motorsport Park for Round 3 on 31 January to 1st of February, 2026.
