EVENNETT BEGINS 2026 EUROPEAN GT4 SERIES - BECOMES THE ONLY AUSTRALIAN IN FIELD
It's been a busy month for recently turned 18 year old young gun Lachlan Evennett, who this week embarks on a new category in addition to his GRM Trans Am Australia and Australian GT4 Series duties, furthering his experience in Europe.
Evennett, who has been signed by Toyota Racing Europe Customer team Speedy Motorsports to compete in the 2026 European GT4 Series in the Silver-Silver class in a Toyota Supra GT4 EVO 2, heads to the picturesque French circuit of Paul Ricard for Round 1 of the series.
Evennett is the only Australian in the star studded European field.
The young Queenslander is certainly not overawed by world class circuits.
This weekend sees Evennett go from competing at Phillip Island - to Bathurst - to the south of France at Paul Ricard - in 3 consecutive weeks.
The 2026 European GT Championship calendar in 2026 will involve racing at Circuit Paul Ricard, Monza, Spa-Francorchamps, Misano, Zandvoort and Portimao with Lachlan already having commenced pre-season winter testing with Speedy Motorsports. Lachlan will split his time between Europe and Australia/NZ in 2026 due to his various racing commitments across the different categories.
Since 2017 the GT4 European Series has been the premier feeder series to the GT World, featuring huge grids, thrilling door-to-door racing and stars of the future. All GT4 European Series events this season form an integral part of GT World weekends, meaning the series benefits from competing in front of the world’s biggest brands, best teams and hundreds of thousands of spectators across the year.
The grid this year includes drivers from 22 different nationalities and supercars from 10 manufacturers; Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Ford, Ginetta, Lotus, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and Toyota GR.
Circuit Paul Ricard is a fitting place for the season opener, with the Le Castellet circuit producing great racing. With fast turns and the long Mistral Straight, GT4 cars produce slipstream racing in packs. Last year both the records for the closest overall race finish and the closest class victory were set here, with Robert Consani and Benjamin Lariche winning by just 0.076s in their Team Speedcar Audi and Hendrik Still/Joachim Bölting taking Pro-Am glory by 0.002s in their W&S Motorsport Porsche.
In addition to racing the Toyota Supra GT4 EVO 2 in the 2026 European GT4 Series , Lachlan has already debuted a new Toyota Supra GT4 EVO 2 competing in Monochrome GT4 Australia (with the new car run by Brett Francis of BF Racing) in the Silver-Am class with Andrew Torti (2025 AFFS 1600 champion) as his Bronze Am driver and has also competed in the Summerset GT New Zealand Championship with Racelab NZ sharing driver duties with Glen Chappel in the Toyota Supra GT4 EVO 2 as part of the Repco NextGen NZ Championship.

Lachlan Evennett, Lachlan Evennett Racing quote:
“ Exploring a different category in GT4 with the Toyota brand will be awesome and having the opportunity to race the GT4 category internationally in New Zealand and Europe alongside Australia will bring me to many circuits that I have not been to previously. Racing in the highly competitive European GT4 Series is an exciting opportunity to showcase my skills and race on some very well known race circuits.
A total of 20 + race weekends will only help with developing my racing in 2026. A special thank you to all my 2025 sponsors who have come on again in 2026 to support my racing across all categories.”
Pedro Salvador, Speedy Motorsports quote;
"We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Lachlan to the Speedy Motorsport team for our presence in the GT4 European Series. It is both a great responsibility and a strong source of motivation to support Lachlan in his first season on European circuits. From our very first contact, he showed the right mindset — focused, positive and highly committed. We are looking forward to starting this new chapter together and taking on this exciting challenge."
